Mary Jo Caliandro-Hansen is a Senior Associate at Spoken Word Communications. She began her Corporate Communications career in New York City with the world’s largest oilfield services company Schlumberger,  retiring in 2015. During her career there, which spanned over 30 years, MJ held a range of management positions including Director of Internal Communications, Public Affairs Manager, Marketing Communications Manager, and was on the Executive Crisis Management Team.

While at Schlumberger, MJ contributed to several communications platforms such as crisis leadership, media relations and investor relations. She also led company efforts in regards to training, coaching and mentoring technical and executive staff for media interviews and presentation skills.

Although she began her career in New York, MJ has been based in Houston for over 20 years. While at Schlumberger she often traveled to South America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East to provide communication, presentation and media training within the company.

MJ holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She is a retired member of the International Association of Business Communicators, European Association of Communication Directors, and the Public Relations Society of America.

In her spare time, MJ spends her days in the Texas Hill Country tending to her honeybees and volunteering as a Texas Master Naturalist.
